The old Lux polishers, models B22 and B23 are electrical appliances that have practically not suffered any breakdowns in the 40 years that they have been on the market.

The main cause of the problem they present is the wear and tear of the belt . At some point we observe that the motor makes noise, but the rollers do not move.

In this manual, we are going to explain the steps to follow , for the repair of the polisher, in the event that it is necessary to replace the part that transmits the movement of the motor shaft to the rollers.

Steps:

  1. Remove the protective band from the device.
  2. Remove the three external rollers, where the accessories are placed, these rollers only go under pressure, so they can be removed by hand or by levering with a screwdriver.
  3. Remove the cover with three flat screws that covers the lower mechanism.
  4. Removing the old belt , which will have snapped or broken, is usually the cause of the failure . The new one is smaller, it must be tightened and, over time, it gives way. We will see the inside of the appliance as shown in Figure 1
  5. We will place the new belt as shown in Figure 2 . YOU HAVE TO TENSION IT, MAKING ENOUGH FORCE , the best thing is:
  • Put the belt around one of the two symmetrically placed rollers
  • Pass the belt through the motor shaft
  • Place another roller at the beginning symmetrically and rotate it, tightening the belt of the device more and more until it completely encircles the second roller.
  • If the belt is not level at first and is higher in some areas than others, rotate the rollers in one direction. The spare part will be progressively placed in its place.
  • Close the three screws and place the protective side band .
